Kelly is a Hollywood Hair Specialist who has worked with some of the top stars in the motion picture and television industry. She specializes in hair replacement, hair extensions, hair color, hair design/style, and she trains many stylist all over the world on these highly desired techniques. She is a boss babe!
“The head of hair I fell in love with growing up belonged to Cyndi Lauper,” confesses Kelly Hill, inventor/creator of the revolutionary Lime Light Hair Industries Hair Link Extension and designer of the Lime Light Head Dress. “She wasn’t afraid to experiment with fun colors and crazy cuts. Her MTV videos made me feel happy and inspired.” And just like that, the Palm Springs, California native’s fascination with the fabled follicle was born. But unlike the average girls that just wanted to have fun, this desert dancer got down to business sculpting a career in fashion and image cultivation. While attending cosmetology school, Kelly was invited to become a part of the Nova Hair Systems family where she sharpened her scissors and craft, focusing on the expansion of hair extension and hair replacement methods. She later helped educate other stylists on how to use Nova Hair products at the 2011 International Beauty Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, NV.
At 22 Aubrey O’Day saw Kelly’s work, Kelly became her stylist and did her hair for the show “Making the Band” with P. Diddy and for the most famous drummers of modern age Travis Barker’s Famous Stars and Straps clothing line. At 24, Kelly’s early success signaled a relocation two-hours west to Hollywood where she set up her swivel chair at the highly respected Vered Salon on Melrose Avenue. Celebrities like Tara Reid, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were frequent vanity visitors of the hipster hair hang. While layering locks on Melrose, Kelly realized she wanted to get more creative with her calling, so she joined up with celebrity stylist Susan Lipson at the Onset Hair Academy in Santa Monica, CA. There Kelly learned groundbreaking special effect hair & makeup techniques for motion picture and TV with hair and special effects makeup, permitting her to envision historically based, transformational hairstyles ranging from Neanderthal beards to the rococo confections of Marie Antoinette. In 2010, Kelly opened her own salon, Lime Light Hair Industries, on Tom Petty’s storied Ventura Boulevard in Studio City. Patrons lined up and clippers got busy as the dead ends started free falling in the San Fernando Valley. Having evolved into an expert-level stylist and extension virtuoso, Kelly became the sole educator for the industry-known hair extension company, Hairlocs International, where she schooled stylists from across the globe on hair extension and hair replacement. The southern California girl that’s worn hair extensions since she was 15! She fostered relationships with glittering celebrities such as Mila Kunis, Kate Beckinsale, Stockard Channing, the Baldwin brothers, Bill Champlin from the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame band Chicago and Emmy winning actress Jane Lynch, who introduces her friends to Kelly as, “the hair contortionist.” Kelly has currently stepped away from managing a full-time salon to freelance her talents. “I’m working on a brand-new launch of hair extension and hair replacement products that I’ve invented and designed myself,” she reports enthusiastically. “My own method; my own dream come true.” In addition, she continues to devote her energy to altruistic endeavors like Pantene Beautiful Lengths; a program sponsored by Pantene and the American Cancer Society where she provides charity cuts for patients and donators. To hearken her multicolored hero, Cyndi Lauper, ‘time after time’, Kelly is reminded how grateful she is to still be doing what she loves; helping make people look and feel beautiful.
